| Santa might be seeing a lot of boats on this year’s Christmas lists. It was a tough year for boats (and boaters) on the Gulf Coast and in the northern Caribbean. Ten hurricanes, six of them Category 3 or stronger, put the 2017 season among the most active Atlantic storm seasons on record. The economic toll, upwards of $200 billion, made 2017 the costliest season in U.S. history. Included in that was bad news for boat owners: More than 63,000 recreational boats were damaged or destroyed, with an estimated $655 million price tag for boats alone. | ||
